Can you tell us a bit about your background and what led you to develop PostPropel?
Iām a software engineer from India and graduated in 2023 with a major in Information Technology. Currently, Iām part of the founding team of an early-stage startup. Iāve always been passionate about building things that help people, and as a software engineer, LinkedIn is the platform I interacted with the most.
What got me thinking about PostPropel was seeing how some people on LinkedIn seemed to consistently get messages from recruiters, while others didnāt. The key difference, I realized, was in how they stood out, especially with high-quality, engaging content. But I personally struggled with thisāIām not a great content writer, and I couldnāt commit to posting regularly. I can code all day, but writing content just isnāt my strength.
So, I built PostPropel to solve this problem. The idea was simple: help people like me, who may not be natural writers, to generate engaging posts easily by mimicking the writing styles of others. As a LinkedIn content creation tool, PostPropel makes it easy for users to stay active on the platform without the stress of constant writing, and weāre also planning to expand PostPropel for B2B use cases, which is personally exciting for me since I have another product Iād love to spread the word about!
How did you validate the concept for PostPropel before starting development, and what specific gap in the market were you aiming to address?
Honestly, I didnāt really follow the traditional route of validating the idea before development. As a software developer, I bootstrapped PostPropel, and I didnāt want to waste time just testing the concept itself. I can afford to fail, but Iād rather fail fast and move on to the next project.
Instead of just validating the idea, I wanted to validate the product itself. So, I built PostPropel in about a week, spent a few more days getting the payment provider approval, and launched it as quickly as possible. This approach was different from my previous product, where I had a proper waitlist and a beta launch. With PostPropel, I wanted to test the MVP right away.
The unique feature of PostPropel is the ability to add multiple writing styles, which fills a gap for people who struggle to create good content on their own. Itās especially helpful for those who canāt use tools like ChatGPT effectively because the content might still sound too much like AI. PostPropel, as a LinkedIn content creation tool, helps users achieve a more natural, personalized tone that resonates better with their audience.
Could you walk us through how a user interacts with PostPropel? Whatās the user experience like from the moment they sign up to discovering hidden pain points?
When a user first signs up for PostPropel, we’ve made sure the process is smooth and straightforward. Right after creating an account, they’re welcomed with an intuitive dashboard that’s easy to navigate.
Here’s how it typically goes:
- Connecting LinkedIn: If the user has not registered using LinkedIn, they can simply connect their LinkedIn account in settings.
- Setting Up Writing Styles: The user can start by adding writing styles they’d like to emulate. This is as simple as uploading samples of writingāeither their own or from someone they admire (with permission, of course). This helps our AI understand the tone and style they want for their content.
- Post Preferences: Prior to generating a post, users have a few preferences they can set to direct the nature of the post, like the tone, type, hashtags etc.
- Creating a Post: Next, they can dive into creating content. They can input an outline, bullet points, or even just a topic they want to write about. Our AI then generates a draft that matches their chosen style.
- Review and Edit: The user can review the generated content, make any tweaks they feel necessary, and finalize the postāall within the platform.
- Posting: Once they’re happy with the content, they can post directly to LinkedIn without leaving PostPropel.
- Viewing: Users can even direly visit their post with just a single click from PostPropel
Discovering Hidden Pain Points:
As users go through this process, many might realize how much time they used to spend struggling to write engaging posts. They might have underestimated the effort required to maintain consistency or to craft content that truly resonates with their audience. With PostPropel, they discover that these pain points can be addressed effortlessly.
The platform not only saves them time but also reduces the stress of coming up with new content ideas and writing in a compelling way. It empowers them to focus more on engaging with their network and less on the daunting task of content creation.
Overall, the user experience is designed to be friendly and efficient, helping users overcome common hurdles in content creationāeven if they’re not confident writers themselves.
What would you say are the reasons users should choose PostPropel over other LinkedIn content creation tools on the market?
The key reasons users might choose PostPropel over another LinkedIn content creation tool comes down to its simplicity and unique approach. Honestly, when I was building PostPropel, I didn’t spend time researching competitors because I wanted to avoid bias and stay focused on solving the problem my way. I believe what sets PostPropel apart is its ability to let users add and emulate different writing styles, allowing the generated content to sound more personalized and less robotic.
Instead of trying to replace the userās voice, PostPropel aims to enhance it. Itās especially helpful for those who arenāt confident in their writing skills or donāt have the time to create consistent, engaging content. The tool makes it easy to maintain a unique tone while saving time, which I think can make a real difference for users.
Looking back on your journey with PostPropel, what has been the most rewarding part of building this product, and what are you most excited about for the future?
Looking back, even though it’s only been a short journey since I recently launched PostPropel, the most rewarding part so far has been receiving feedback from early users. Even though the user base is small, I am always excited to hear from users on how we can improve the platform. One of the best moments was connecting with a really humble and knowledgeable person through this feedback loop, which was unexpected but truly rewarding.
As for the future, I’m most excited about the potential for PostPropel to really make a difference for people who need help with content creation. And of course, thereās a bit of excitement around the prospect of making my first internet dollar! It’s all about seeing the impact the product can have on people’s lives and businesses, and that keeps me motivated.
